Native Texas Passiflora Tenuiloba

I bent down to take a closer look and was surprised to see a small (1″) passion flower. What a thrill. I love discovering new native plants growing on our land. I immediately fetched my camera so I could get some close up shots of the bloom and foliage to help me identify it. It took some doing, but I finally identified it this morning as a passiflora tenuiloba. It is a diminutive little flower, but quite beautiful with subtle greens, yellows, and mauves. The foliage is dark, glossy green with deep lobes.

I’m working on a post featuring the native Texas plants that are found on our land. Stay tuned.

Happy Easter all!
