Nature

Another Positive Sign

The four-week long hot, dry, windy spell that we have been having here (upper 90s to over 100 every day, no rain at all, steady, constant winds over 25 mph) may be coming to an end. When I got up this morning I noticed immediately that the wind had subsided to a gentle breeze. Then, just after sun rise, a light rain began falling, which created the lovely rainbow (it’s almost a double rainbow) you see below.

The 8-14 day outlook is for wetter and cooler than normal conditions. Boy would that be a welcome change!

Discussion

  1. Great job capturing that rainbow. My photographs never seem to contain the majesty of them. I think I read in double rainbows, the order of the stripes in the second one is reversed.

    Anyhow, excellent photos!

  2. Hi Bob. I did not know that about the color order of double rainbows. I will have to look more closely next time I see a double one.

Thanks for the compliment. I don’t have much experience photographing rainbows, and this one began to disappear as I was taking the fourth shot, so I didn’t have much time to hone my skills.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

    Cheers.

  4. Hey Dee,

The shower we got the morning I took these rainbow photos was just a tease it seems. We have only had a few drops since then. Now it’s back to hot and windy. Seems like some folks are getting way too much rain, and we are getting very little. Hope you aren’t getting too much where you are.

Thanks for stopping by. – Carol
