The rain has completely stopped here, and the mornings are getting really chilly. We haven’t been down to freezing yet, but we have been close. I’m going to have to start covering my tomatoes at night if it gets any colder.
Everything is doing really well except for my squash. It may be too cool at night for them. Or maybe they like longer days. They keep blooming, but there is little to no fruit, and what little fruit there is is really small. I have been fertilizing with fish emulsion, humus, and seaweed every week, but I can’t seem to coax a healthy fruit out of them. Oh well. Maybe I will try covering them at night so they don’t get too cold and see if that changes anything.
The peppers are all doing great, and so are the tomatoes (both the Money Makers I planted last spring, as well as the Celebrities and the Big Beefs that I planted earlier this fall). The broccoli and chard are looking fantastic, as is most of the lettuce. I had a couple of lettuce plants bolt already because of the unusually warm fall weather we had this year.
Here are some pictures I took last weekend with my digital camera. I also took some with my analog camera that I haven’t developed yet. I’ll post more as I get them.
Zucchini Squash
Jalapeno Peppers
Anaheim Peppers
Broccoli, Chard and Lettuce
Butternut Squash
Happy Halloween everyone!
