Out on the Deck and South Side View

I’m playing with a web service called ustream. You are seeing a live stream of either our backyard, or our south yard, hosted through ustream. Pretty cool. I need to tweak all of this to make it more interesting, so consider this just a test at the moment.

Update: The video quality is not too great, but I placed a hummingbird feeder and bird feeder close enough to the camera that you can see the birds on the feeders fairly well.

Update: My ISP made me stop running the video stream. It seems it was eating up all of his bandwidth.

I was watching Central Texas Gardener this morning and saw an interview with The Bluecollar Gardeners guys. They are really knowledgeable and entertaining. They have many excellent podcasts available on their site (you can subscribe to them on Feedburner and iTunes also). The podcasts, each about 30 min long, are full of great Central Texas gardening information on useful topics ranging from compost tea to growing tomatoes. KLRU will be airing this episode (#1330) of CTG at various times for the next week. See the full schedule here.

  1. Very cool! Is it always that lush or is it the rain this summer?

Some of my garden has never looked better but the really xeric stuff is looking like it got too much water.

  2. It is usually pretty brown and crispy by August here, but the rain has kept it green and lush this year. We are lucky to live on a hill so all the excess rain drains down into the creek.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
