Here are some of the photos that I took this morning to journal how things are looking at the beginning of spring this year. I selected my favorites from a set of 38 photos. Click here if you want to view the whole set as a slideshow.
I love the look of these lavender colored vincas in the heavy shade under the oak trees just south of the house. I can see them from my office window even now as I type. They are so pretty.

This white yarrow is about ready to bloom. I love the dainty, ferny fronds of the foliage of this type of yarrow. I hope the blooms are pleasing.

We just sold all the remaining first crop of tomatoes, so I’m glad I got a shot of them this morning. It seems they are selling like hotcakes at Timpones Market.

I am also glad that we got some of the first crop of tomatoes into our gardens as well. I have lots more heirloom varieties of tomatoes sprouting in the greenhouse. They should be ready for planting in three weeks.

We have this plains bittersweet growing all over the upper (north) side of our land. It is very pretty. I think I will try transplanting some of it to my garden beds to see how well it takes to transplanting.

The coral honeysuckle is just starting to bloom. These plants are now entering their fourth summer and I expect them to be glorious this year. I can see these plants from my office window as well.

These columbines were originally seeded by bird droppings I suspect. That was six years ago, and they have spread all over the bed. They produce seeds prolifically, and I planted some of their seeds last year in another location, and they are blooming now also.

This is the first year I have grown and planted calendulas (aka pot marigold). I am quite pleased by how well they weathered the entire winter (they were planted in Sept-Oct I think) without protection. They are being slightly bothered by whiteflies at the moment, but a little neem should take care of that problem.
