Cantaloupe in the Garden

Ron’s Cantaloupes

We have gotten several nice cantaloupes from the garden this year. They have been a little small, but fleshy and sweet.

Discussion

  1. why do you have the boards under your cantaloupe

  2. To keep the melons off the ground so they don’t rot from the moisture. Hay or straw works well for this purpose too.

  3. If you turn the cantelope wouldn’t that prevent it from rotting as well?

  4. Yes. As long as the melons aren’t laying directly on wet dirt for more than a day or so they should be fine.
