Finally, Fall

Fall gardening is in full swing here, despite the warm afternoon temperatures. We have had a couple of mornings in the 40s this past week, which feels pretty brisk first thing in the morning, but by 9 am it is already getting warm.

I was out harvesting jalapenos and tomatoes for salsa-making this afternoon when I encountered this praying mantis.

The fall garden harvest has been very bountiful this year. We have loads of tomatoes, peppers, green beans, sweet potatoes, and several nice pie making pumpkins.

There is quite a bit of color in the vegetable garden now due to some of the perennials that I have let go to seed.

One of my most successful gardens beds is my kitchen herb garden. The basil is waning, but the thyme, parsley, oregano, and dill are well established and thriving.

The courtyard project continues. The fritillaries love the persian carpet zinnias. I placed a table and chair set that I inherited from my mother in the courtyard to one side of the fountain. It seems to be the right size for the area, and goes well with the color of the fountain.
