I received my copy of the Texas Gardener [1] magazine today, and I noticed that there was a feature article on garden blogs included in it. I eagerly turned right to that article and was pleased to see that the article was written by an Austin garden blogger, Bonnie Martin, who I had the pleasure of meeting this past spring at the Garden Bloggers Spring Fling [2].
The article is a good read. It provides an interesting overview of garden blogging, along with links to some excellent garden blogs, and a nice photo of Bonnie working on a garden project with an inset image of her garden blog, Kiss of Sun [3], home page.
My favorite quote from the article is this one:
Reading the blogs of other gardeners constantly offers me new knowledge on plants, ideas on overcoming challenges in the garden and an appreciation for other garden designs. This online community has become my gardening club.
I couldn’t agree with Bonnie more. Reading garden blogs, and commenting on them, even if you don’t manage a blog of your own, is so educational and enjoyable. It is one of the most satisfying activities that I regularly engage in. Almost as enjoyable as gardening itself, because there is a social aspect to it.

I haven’t seen Bonnie’s article yet, but I look forward to reading it. Thanks for the heads-up that it’s been published.
Your new design looks great, by the way.

Hi Pam, it’s good to see blogging being covered more frequently in the mainstream media these days. Your segment on CTG (they have a blog now on their site) was great, and I know there have been a couple of articles in the Statesman as well.
Glad you like the new design. I’m still trying to get control of it, but I like it much better than the old one already.

Thanks for the compliments, Carol. It was a challenge to write an article for non-bloggers about blogging without overwhelming with details, but the Spring Fling was a real inspiration and gave me lots of thoughts on the article. Glad you saw and enjoyed the piece.

I thought your article was perfect for a general gardening audience. You provided just the right level of information to get people interested and engaged, without be technically intimidating. Very nice job!
