Front Yard Project: Part 4

We are well into filling the new raised beds with dirt. I don’t know how many tons of dirt we will end up using for these three beds, but it is a lot of dirt. The second truck full of dirt was delivered yesterday, and another large truckload will be delivered today. With the help of the Dingo, all the beds should be full by the end of the day.

Ah, so that’s how it’s done. Start completely new with two feet of brand new dirt. I knew I was doing something wrong. 🙂

mss – We have so little top soil and so much caliche that the only way I have gotten plants to grow really well here is to use Geo Growers soil in raised beds. The Geo Growers soil drains well, but also holds moisture which seems to be perfect for raised beds. I just add an inch or two of compost to each bed once or twice a year, and everything seems to thrive.

A Dingo! Love it. That’s what I need to put on my XMas list.
