Hi Robin - that ice storm was a memorable event. It lasted for several days, and we were lucky that we had no damage as a result. Cheers - Carol

Been browsing through your blog, and found this post. Incredible pictures! I love the sedge in ice, what a sight to see. And perhaps the most interesting to me is the icicles hanging from the room, with the evergreen leaves right behind it - interesting contrast. Good photos! By the way, thanks for adding me to your blogroll.

Hi Barbee - thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Your recipe for gazpacho looks good. As soon as I get enough tomatoes to give it a try I plan to.

Cheers,
Carol

Hi Laurie - I had no idea what mine was either, but I do like it, and I wanted to know how to take care of it properly. It is pretty much in full, hot sun, and is doing quite well. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I love the blackberry lily. I have some in my upper garden that a neighbor planted for me as a surprise. I remember when it bloomed, I was like...what is this beautiful flower? Thankfully someone on blotanical identified it for me.
Beautiful.

Bonnie - you are so right about them being hard to spot even though they are huge. I first spotted the damage, and then had to hunt for quite a while before I located the culprits. Then I went to get my camera, and even though I knew pretty much where they were, I still had to hunt for them to find them. Nature is truly amazing.

I would agree with your guess. Grasshoppers have been pretty bad here this year. I noticed today that the tops of one of my pepper plants have been eaten in the same way you describe, and I would be willing to bet that it was grasshopper damage. I have seen grasshoppers over three inches long around my gardens. They look prehistoric.
